Keegan McNally, a junior majoring in Biology, joined the lab as an undergraduate researcher. Keegan will be working on dye-polyelectrolyte binding studies, concentrating on the linear water soluble polyDADMAC polymer.
Ashley was selected to receive a fellowship from the US Department of Education's Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) for the 2011-2012 academic year. The fellowship will provide tuition and stipend coverage for the year, in addition to access to professional development courses and funding for research supplies. Congratulations Ashley!
2011-05-15 Our group was awarded seed funding from the UA Research Grants Council (RGC) to support the development of our functionalized liposome nanoreactors.
Central Tuscaloosa was hit by a devastating tornado this afternoon. The UA campus was not hit directly, but the town sustained very heavy damage (classes are cancelled for the rest of the semester). All group members are fine and accounted for at this time. Unfortunately there were casualties and devastating damage to the city.

Most large scale lab renovations are finally done, hoods and gas lines are installed in the lab. We are ready to receive some new instruments and supplies and start work in earnest!
